The Quality Advocate

Software Quality Championed | Liza Olmsted

Training

I provide training for two groups (are you one of them?):

1. Tech companies: I run training such as workshops and in house programs for upcoming quality leaders, both QA Engineers as well as anyone else who’s passionate about quality.

Everything is done based on your needs, so the best way to proceed is to drop me a note in the contact form below and we can talk!

2. Online course and education providers in the tech space: Quality is a huge topic, but often in tech training it’s relegated to basic “how-to-test” modules, or missed entirely. I can help you fill the gap of how to own quality in a truly effective way.

Feel free to drop me a note in the contact form and we can talk!

What I Teach

Most of what’s out there about quality in tech is about how to test, when to test, and how to automate your testing. While those are important subjects, they’re not the only ones.

I help quality engineers and quality leaders use testing as a risk management tool. I teach how to think strategically, how to advocate for quality, and how to be a leader.

I help quality leaders have more impact by communicating clearly and meaningfully
  • About what they’re doing and what needs doing
  • About the current and expected state of quality

Clear communication allows us to spot issues and misunderstandings right away in order to quickly pivot to new solutions.

I help quality leaders work smarter by focusing on quality holistically
  • Starting early in the cycle by debugging specs and aligning on release criteria
  • Through talking about and acting on the quality of already-released features and projects to make sure we're serving all of our customers' needs
I help quality leaders get out of their own heads
  • Anxiety
  • Imposter Syndrome
  • The struggles of being a gender-minority in tech
  • Neurodivergence

The software industry is hard on QA Engineers, and it's harder on anyone who doesn't fit the "default", and while sometimes the solution is as simple as find a new job ... there are plenty of  approaches to try first. 🙂
